Drive and control a linear motor using the Motorcoder and Panasonic Servo drive without a scale
Hello, this is Sensor Lab.
A linear motor is driven using a Panasonic servo drive and motorcoder (Mtotorcoder) without a linear encoder.
As with existing Mitsubishi servo drives, absolute position serial communication is applied.
Since it is a serial encoder rather than an ABZ pulse type incremental encoder, it is resistant to noise and allows absolute position transmission.
Motorcoder, a scale-less linear encoder, has no maximum speed limit.
The video shows a demonstration of driving at up to 2m/sec.
When controlling position, setting is possible within 60msec.
If you are curious about the precision, please see the video below.

If defined accurately, absolute position sensing is possible even when driven at several kilometers per second, but in reality, there is no linear motor that can be driven that way, so it can be driven at the maximum speed allowed by the linear motor.
1. High resolution 0.73um
2. No maximum speed limit (linear motor maximum speed)
3. Scale-free long-distance absolute position sensing
4. Mitsubishi, Panasonic, BiSS communication
5. Very resistant to dust, foreign substances, water, etc.
6. There is no scale, so there is no malfunction due to scale damage, and the assembly tolerance is large, making it advantageous for long-distance assembly.
Thank you for watching.
